Bilingual Sino-Tibetan coinage
Beginning from the year 1792 the Chinese emperor Chian lung had minted bilingual Chinese Tibetan coins in Lhasa parallel to the purely Tibetan Kongpar Tamka. There were silver 1/2 Sho, 1 Sho and 1 Tamka coins in the years 58, 59, 60 and 61 of his reign with the inscription Chian Lung Zang Bao (Chinese) or Chan lung gtsang pa'u in Tibetan. Similar coins were minted under the emperors Jia qing (years 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 24 and 25) and Dao guang (years 1, 2, 3, 4, 15, 16).One could go into much more detail than I do here ... there are varieties in the dots being in the rim between the date and there are varieties in the Chinese character used ...
